Living a Life that Honors Him
By Becky Hunter, May 11, 2007
So, how was your week? I hope you have been able to find the opportunities that were hidden in the challenges you faced.
I have been in Washington D.C. this week at a Family Research Council event for pastors and their wives. It has been educational and motivating. Myriad opportunities exist in our culture to make a difference for Christ because the challenges are many. Making a significant contribution to the betterment of society, though, can feel overwhelming. We can not let feeling overwhelmed deter us. It is important to remember, in the midst of all of the challenges, that the opportunity you and I have that can make the most significant difference for Christ is to live a life that honors Him.
Strength and perseverance are not at all foreign to any of the pastors’ wives I know personally. But not all of these wonderful ladies are convinced, yet, that loving God well means spending personal time with Him every day, being a faithful wife and, if and when the children come, a dedicated mother. Do you know how I became convinced that those are all ways to really love God well and to make a significant contribution in this world? It was when a wonderful pastor’s wife told me that “secret” more than 35 years ago. I saw first hand what God had done in and through her life in her family, and church and how her choices blessed her community. I was convinced.
GPWN’s website, www.gpwn.tv, is filled with resources that convinced women bring for your consideration and support. You will be in my prayers again this weekend when I sit down in the worship service. Will you join me in praying for pastors’ wives around the world as you sit down for the worship service at your church?
