God's Apprehended Us!
By Becky Hunter, July 5th, 2007
The weekend is almost here!
That comment means something so different in a pastor’s home from what it means in most others’. For a pastor’s family it means that just around the corner there is another opportunity to engage or ignore, encourage or dishearten church family. I pray that each one of us will fully engage and totally encourage.
Oswald Chambers says in My Utmost for His Highest, “We are not here to work for God because we have chosen to do so, but because God has apprehended us.” If I forget that, I have less energy and enthusiasm to bring into the partnership with my husband for ministry and service. And that’s the case whether the efforts for Kingdom purposes are inside or outside the church walls. Having God’s perspective, the “apprehended” perspective, is critical to long-term partnership in meaningful pastoral ministry.
What is God inspiring you to say or do to minister to individuals in your church family over these next few days? Is there someone you need to apologize to? Someone you could offer encouragement? Someone you could help out by meeting a specific need? Do what you can, where you are, with what you’ve got.
God’s apprehended us! The weekend is almost here! It’s all good.
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Philippian 3:12
