A Brand New You

By Becky Hunter

It’s a brand new year! Are you ready to be a brand new you?

Nearly every commercial I’ve heard and ad I’ve seen since January 1st has asked that question, in one form or another, but when I heard it yesterday it struck me differently than it had previously. It caused me to think about being “brand” new.

“Brand’ is a big deal. There are entire mega-companies whose job is branding. And please note that the kind of branding I’m referring to here has nothing to do with burning initials onto a cow’s backside. What I’m referring to is experiential branding, that which others should expect from all interactions with the brand. This concept isn’t just corporate, it’s personal: Ecclesiastes puts it this way, A good name is better than fine perfume...

Our good name, our brand, is Christian. And we who are pastors’ wives, continually have incredible opportunities to make a great KINGDOM difference in our husbands’ lives and calling, our children’s upbringing, our churches’ depth and outreach, and our communities’ betterment. Granted, every opportunity is flavored with challenges, but it is through those challenges that the value of our brand can best be proved.

Our brand, our good name, represents Someone and His message is one that others should expect to see clearly demonstrated in interactions with us. What we think, say, and do matters.

Are you ready to be a “brand” new you?

wow..a good name better than fine perfume!! Food for thought. I love perfume so much and can have several bottles and still go looking for what is new!! But to think a good name is better than all that and yet sometimes, I may not put as much effort into who I am meant to be. Causes me to check my life and desire a new name. A brand new me...so help me God.
